Fishing company Síldarvinnslan has made a donation of equipment to local technical college Verkmenntaskóli Austurlands to support training in refrigeration technology.
The package of includes equipment to identify leaks, a scale for refrigerants, a vacuum pump, an extraction pump and measuring equipment. According to lecturers Hafliði Hinriksson and Arnar Guðmundsson, Síldarvinnslan’s donation will be put to good use on courses for engineers.
They state that the technology in this field is becoming steadily more important, making it equally important that the college is able to supply training in the types of equipment that are in general use.
Hafliði Hinriksson and Arnar Guðmundsson commented that the company’s support in acquiring equipment is invaluable, and that companies such as Síldarvinnslan have demonstrated their goodwill and preference for the college to be able to provide the best possible training – and these companies ultimately benefit from this once students graduate and make their way onto the job market.
‘The college is very grateful for this goodwill, and it’s certain that twenty students will right away be able to use the new equipment and become better prepared for their future employment,’ the said.
