During 2023, the Port of Skagen has exceeded all expectations and delivered growth that beats even the previous year’s outstanding results.
With strong activity in all business areas, the port achieved a turnover of DKK 81.8 million and profits of DKK 28.7 million. This success comes as a result of targeted investments in infrastructure and facilities over several years.
The Port of Skagen has understood the importance of investing in the future, and has created a foundation that not only ensures stability, but also opportunities for growth and development for many years to come, according to board chair Niels Arnold Lund, who expressed his satisfaction with the result and highlights the importance of the strategic investments and focus on business development.
He commented that it is not just a single achievement, but the result of a long-term vision.
Managing director Willy Bent Hansen stressed the importance of positive development across all business areas, which has helped shape the Port of Skagen into the company it is today.
‘With increased activity, the port’s operations have proven to be very efficient and flexible, which has had a significant impact on the bottom line,’ he said, pointing out the importance of continuously developing the organisation’s competences and resources to ensure being able to deliver the best solutions to the port’s customers.
Emissions 70% down
The green transition continues to be a focus of the Port of Skagen, which reports that it is very close to the goal of a 70% reduction in CO2 emissions.
The Port of Skagen has selected three initiatives, all of which in 2023 have contributed to the reduction of CO2 emissions. Solar cells have been installed on three buildings – the fishing terminal, the new veterinary border control and the new port building which with its DGNB certification measures takes into account aspects such as the life cycle of building materials, consumption of energy and water, as well as accessibility and indoor climate. In addition, the Skagen Circle project is a selected initiative, recycling waste water from the fishing sector.
