It is fact that Fishermen’s Terminal has been a Seattle fixture for nearly 100 years and now it is preparing for the upcoming halibut and black cod season. In the season Fishermen’s Terminal becomes their office and they have all the stuff and they need a place to keep it. Fishermen’s Terminal is one of the few ports offering dozens of spacious lockers that fishing boat operators depend on.
Fisherman Chris Johnson said that the crew does their gear work in the locker before we take off and we store a lot of gear in there. They are stacked to the rafters with flammable materials, overloading the power supply and overpowering an aging fire sprinkler system. Fisherman Kris Mullan said that the fleet already spends millions per year supporting the local economy and some port leaders dream of even bigger things.
It si said that the port has already spent tens of millions improving the docks at the terminal and is now asking the fishermen to help pay to remodel the lockers. Suggestions range from higher rates for the lockers to fees for fish sales.
