Plans for new fishing vessels for Norwegian owners have been announced at this week’s Lofotfishing exhibition in Svolvær, with orders placed for several new coastal fishing vessels.
Stadyard will be building a new Meløyfjord for Halsa fishing company Selfjordbuen AS. This will be the yard’s newbuild number 45 and delivery of the new seine netter/purse seiner will take place in March 2021, replacing the company’s current Meløyfjord which was Stadyard’s newbuild number 36 when it was delivered in 2011.
Both the current and the new Meløyfjord are designed by Seacon, with the new vessel to be built to Seacon’s SC45 design with a 45.15 metre overall length and a beam of 11 metres.
The design is for a 499 cubic metre RSW capacity and accommodation for up to ten persons in twin and single cabins.
Fishing company Arnøytind has also gone back to the same naval architect that designed its existing vessel, and the announcement was also made at Lofotfishing that Naval Consult is providing a design package for the new Arnøytind, replacing an older vessel designed twenty years ago by the same company.
The yard has yet to be selected, and decisions also have yet to be taken on whether or not to opt for a hybrid propulsion system. Arnøytind will be 50 metres LOA with a 12 metre beam, and designed for trawling, seine netting and static netting.
