Raudeberg design company Naval Consult has been acquired by the Harstad-based NSK Ship Design, which also has branches in Trondheim and Måløy.
Naval Consult has a long track record of designing innovative fishing vessels, and the company’s former general manager Erlend Hagen, who is staying on with the new owners, commented that they are now part of an innovative company with the potential to develop more and larger projects, adding that the shift towards green energy also provide numerous exciting opportunities.
According to NSK’s managing director Mats Nygaard Johnsen, the company has an ambition to deliver more design and consultancy services, and that when they had an opportunity to take over Naval Consult, they saw real possibilities, not least in bringing the talents of the Naval Consult design team.
‘We want to continue to grow. Fishing vessels have traditionally been key in western Norway and now we aim to place ourselves closer to this market in northern Norway,’ he said.
