The main engine, gensets, refrigeration system, pumps, heat exchangers and tanks are placed in the hull of Kapitan Breichman, one of the trawler series being built at St Petersburg’s Severnaya Verf (Northern Shipyard), before the stern section is closed off.
The rudder mount construction is in progress, along with work on the underwater sections of the hull ahead of metalisation and painting.
‘It finally feels that we are building a series. The working design documentation is 80% complete, taking into account equipment beds and cutouts for pipework,’ said Severnaya Verf general director Igor Orlov.
‘Compared to the first Kapitan, construction is proceeding much more efficiently and consistently.’
Project 170701 factory trawler Kapitan Breichman is part of a series of ten fishing vessels for Norebo, six of which will operate in northern waters and the final four will be outfitted for operation in the Far East.
The Nautic Rus-designed vessels are built to a design that incorporated an Enduro Bow, an inverted bow arrangement that increases seakeeping qualities and also provides a greater working area on board.
