Nordic Wildfish has acquired freezer trawler Olympic Prawn from Fosvanåg company Olympic Seafood, with all its quota entitlements.
‘For Nordic Wildfish, this is an important investment in line with our strategy to strengthen both the investment in the whitefish sector and our position as one of the largest fishing companies in Norway. It’s not every day that there’s an opportunity like this in the Norwegian fishing industry,’ said Nordic Wildfish CEO Anders Bjørnerem.
One of the most environmentally friendly trawlers in the Norwegian fleet, Olympic Prawn was built at the Cemre Shipyard in Turkey and delivered to Olympic Seafood at the end of 2020. It has quotas for both shrimp and whitefish.
‘We put a lot of effort into environmentally friendly production and, and this top modern vessel meets strict requirements for fuel consumption, emission and catch handling. It’s a fantastic vessel and an excellent workplace for the crew,’ Anders Bjørnerem said.
Olympic Prawn is built to a Kongsberg NVC 370 design and is capable of pelagic trawling and has four trawl winches, enabling it to tow triple-rig demersal gear. The 69.91 metre overall, 16 metre beam Olympic Prawn has accommodation on board for a crew of up to 29 persons.
