Skipskompetanse has announced a contract for the design of a new fishing vessel to be built by Larsnes Mek. Verksted as the yard’s newbuild no 69.
Seine netter/purse seiner Nord-Fugløy is to be built for Nord-Lenange fisherman Roger Nilsen, with a contract agreed between operating company Camaro Fiskeriselskap, designer Skipskompetanse and shipbuilder Larsnes Mek Verksted.
The SK-3151 design by Skipskompetanse has been developed to fit the expected operational profile, and includes a 1000kW/h battery pack and a Yanmar 6EY26 main engine.
In achieving optimal operating economy and minimal environmental footprint, the propulsion system includes a large propeller, a two-step gearbox, a variable speed generator and a ‘take me home’ propulsion option, plus the approximately 1mW battery package.
The design also anticipates climatic changes that vessels fishing in northern waters could face in the coming years, and is expected to meet future requirements and expectations for a minimal environmental footprint.
The 50.70 metres LOA, 12 metre beam Nord-Fugløy is designed to alternate seine netting and purse seining, and will have a variety of options for catch storage, including options for a 400 cubic metre capacity for live fish, catches chilled in ice, held in 499 cubic metre RSW tanks or a 300 cubic metre refrigerated storage.
A strong focus on crew safety and comfort have also gone into the design process behind Nord-Fugløy.
