Russia’s commercial fisheries community is embarking on promoting and streamlining its competitiveness with a single national Russian Fish brand earmarked to become a quality mark for Russian seafood products worldwide.
Government and industry are joining hands in the Russian Fish venture, with a comprehensive marketing strategy developed and managed by Expo Solutions Group, which hosts the annual Seafood Expo Russia event in St Petersburg, as well as managing the Russian Federation’s national stands at the world’s largest seafood industry exhibitions in Brussels and Qingdao.
Russian Fish was presented at a side event during the China Fisheries and Seafood Expo 2019, Asia’s largest industry exhibition. Russia’s 700m2 national pavilion has become the largest at the Chinese exhibition, attracting more visitors than any other attraction at the venue.
More than 30 Russian fishing, processing, trading and aquaculture enterprises dealing with fish and marine products exhibited as part of the Russian national pavilion.
According to Expo Solutions Group CEO Ivan Fetisov, there were strong reasons for making the presentation in China, as this is the market which is expected to be the starting point for implementing the integrated strategy to promote Russian fish, to be followed by European and US markets.
‘We plan to join the ranks of world-famous marketing organisations such as Norwegian Seafood Council, Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, JETRO and Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers,’ Ivan Fetisov said.
‘Russia has rich fish resources and is one of the largest suppliers of environmentally-friendly wild-caught fish, which is bound to be appreciated by the global market and has every right to take a leading position.’
Russian Fish will operate as an autonomous non-profit organisation managed by its board of directors whose members will include representatives of businesses, including major producers and traders within the Russian fishing industry and government representatives from bodies that are part of the Federal Agency for Fisheries.
Expo Solutions Group is expected to be Russian Fish’s operating body.
The new organisation is expected to be incorporated, to be recruiting and to have drafted its constitution by the end of 2019.
