The Moroccan Confederation of Industrial Pelagic Fishing Shipowners (COMAIP) held an extraordinary general assembly in Rabat earlier this month, when the board unanimously adopted an ethical charter focused on the preservation of resources, exemplary social practices, and environmental sustainability.
The board also decided to entrust an independent entity with the drafting of a report on the socio-economic impact of the sector at the regional, national and continental levels. In addition, three new committees were created: an ethics committee to supervise the implementation of the charter, a strategic committee for the scientific and environmental aspects, and an external relations committee to represent COMAIP with partners.
‘All our members stand ready to support this royal vision on the economic, social and environmental levels,’ said COMAIP President Mohamed Lamine Hormatollah, commenting that COMAIP is establishing the foundations of new policies in line with the vision of King Mohammed VI, with an emphasis on the Africa-Atlantic Axis.
