When family-run fish farming business Emilsen Fisk AS was looking to renew one of its workboats, the choice for a newbuild went to Moen Marin, which has now delivered the NabWork 1250 Aslaug.
Emilsen Fisk goes back to 1975 when Arvid Emilsen and his two sons started farming and slaughtering fish at the home of Lauvøya in Vikna municipality, with a long tradition of fishing and proximity behind them as this has become a modern fish farming and harvesting company.
‘With one of our boats approaching retirement age, we needed to renew the fleet with a modern, functional boat. For us, the price, quality and delivery time were key considerations so we chose Moen Marin. The boat meets all the specifications, including good seaworthiness and a spacious working deck,’ said Robert Aakvik, production manager at Emilsen Fisk.
Aslaug measures 11.98 metres with a 5 metre beam, and will be used as a service boat at Geitholmen.
The 265hp John Deere 6068 engine provides Aslaug with the power to hold its own in difficult waters, and this drives a Nogva HC168 reduction gear and a 900mm diameter Nogva four-bladed propeller. In addition, there is a 9.50kW Nanni QLS13 generator.
Deck equipment includes a 7.50 tonne Palfinger PK 8501 (M) B crane and Tenfjord one- and three-tonne capstans. The thruster is a 40hp Sleipner unit
‘We have high expectations of Aslaug and are sure that the vessel will simplify the everyday work of our staff,’ Robert Aakvik said.
Moen Marin supplies its vessels with a fully insulated machine room. The specifications also include fire detection and water intrusion detection and alarm systems, engine room fire extinguishing systems, a four-person liferaft, WC and an additional deck control console behind wheelhouse.
