According to the Sarangani town police chief the remaining crew of the ill-fated FB Citra 33 from General Santos City had been located inside Indonesian territory on Wednesday. Inspector Wilfredo Curameng said that the remaining crew of the ship were located 94 nautical miles south of Sarangani and inside the territory of Indonesia already.
Curameng also informed that the 14 fishermen disappeared after their fishing boat was sunk by huge waves off Sarangani Island on Monday evening. Three of their companions, who were earlier rescued by fellow fishermen, were the ones who reported the incident. Immediately after the reporting of the incident the Philippine Coast Guard immediately launched a search and rescue operation and after two days of searching, found the missing fishermen.
Curameng also told that the waters between Indonesia and Mindanao are considered one of the most treacherous areas for fishermen venturing into the seas. It is fact, these places are full of dangers and in spite of that fishermen continue to sail to these areas because of the abundance of fish, particularly tuna. It is delight of the fishermen to go for fishing in these waters as it has good catch and equally good return. But the risk of accident is much higher than other places in Indonesia.
