The Cemre Shipyard in Turkey has handed over LNG-powered pelagic vessel Sunny Lady to Norwegian owners Teige Rederi, and this innovative new vessel is on its way home to Norway, having sailed from the yard in Turkey earlier this week
Designed by Salt Ship Design, Sunny Lady follows another LNG-powered pelagic vessel, Libas, built for Lie Gruppen at the same yard.
The 86.50 metre, 18 metre breadth vessel has 2830 cubic metre carrying capacity in its RSW tanks, chilled by a double 1500kW FrioNordica RSW plant.
The innovation lies in the hybrid propulsion courtesy of a 350 cubic metre LNG tank and a 1024kWh battery pack.
Propulsion is provided by a 5500kW Wärtsilä 10V31DF main engine and a 4200mm WCP4G1190 propeller, complemented by a 3000kW PTO/1500kW PTI shaft generator. Auxiliary power is provided by a1665kW Wärtsilä 9L20DF, plus there is a 360kW Volvo Penta D13MG emergency genset.
The battery arrangement provides for peak shaving to optimise the main engine’s operation, and also allows for energy regenerated from the winches and other systems to be routed to the battery and made available for use elsewhere.
Sunny Lady has Rapp and Triplex deck hardware. The Rapp trawl winches have a 78.50-tonne pull and there are twin 67.20-tonne net drums. Also included in the Rapp package are a 49-tonne tail-end winch, a net sounder winch, breast line and end-line winches, a pair of 20-inch fish hose reels and cable reels for the two Rapp Hydema CP-3501E 20-inch fish pumps that have a 3500m3/h capacity.
Triplex supplied the two 14t/14.50m deck cranes, as well as the 3t/8.20m net stacker crane and the 4t/13m fish pump crane.
The two 36.60-tonne purse winches are from Rapp and the deck machinery for handling the purse seine is from Triplex, with a 30-tonne hauler, cork line and sink line stackers, and a 5t/12m net handling crane mounted on the aft gallows.
