An order has been confirmed for the latest in a series of 63m LOA, 12.80m beam pelagic trawlers from Karstensens Skibsværft in Skagen.
It has been a busy week for Karstensens. The order of the new Rav was signed at Nor-Fishing this week, and also the order for Swedish company Themis’s new pelagic trawler. This has been in preparation for some time and has now been confirmed. Like Asterid Fiskeri which has ordered its new Rockall to be delivered in February 2017, the Ryberg family who operate Themis also have their roots on the island of Rörö in the Gothenburg archipelago.
The new Themis is scheduled for delivery in February 2018. The newbuild is also a sister vessel to the Gollenes built for Frode Kvalsvik and Asbjørn Ose in Norway, and the Paula for Doyle Fishing in Ireland.
The new Themis will be the yard’s newbuild number 437, following Rockall as number 436, under construction for the Johansson family’s Astrid Fiskeri.
Like Rockall, Themis will have a 2999kW MaK main engine, as well as a Scana Volda gearbox and a 3800mm Caterpillar Propulsion propeller.
