Jonathan Shepherd recently visited South Africa and met the members of the South African Pelagic ProcessorsA533; Association, which is a full member of IFFO.
He visited the fishmeal factories in Cape Province to hear about the challenges facing a fishmeal industry based mainly on trimmings from pilchard canning operations. On his return Jonathan travelled to Iceland in order to attend the annual conference of the Icelandic Fishmeal ManufacturersA533; Association in Rekjavik, where he addressed the delegates on fishmeal and fish oil production and its role in sustainable aquaculture.
