A new factory stern trawler for German fishing company Nordbank Hochseefischerei GmbH is heading home from the Tersan Shipyard in Turkey.
The 88.10-metre, 18.30-metre breadth Jan Maria BX-792 replaces Gerda Maria ROS-786 and is laid out as a factory stern trawler with four main trawl winches, enabling it to tow three trawls. Jan Maria is built to a design by Norwegian naval architect Skipsteknisk, which has also designed the 111-metre pelagic vessel also under construction at Tersan for Nordbank’s Dutch parent company Parlevliet & van der Plas.
Jan Maria is outfitted with a processing line for shrimp, a full grading filletting and packing line for whitefish with automated freezing systems and a transport system to carry frozen production on pallets to the 2900 cubic metre refrigerated holds. An advanced fishmeal and fish oil plant os also part of the production layout.
Propulsion is a 7000kW Wärtsilä system, and Jan Maria has accommodation for a crew of up to 43 persons
