Authorities in Peru have confirmed that the first 2022 anchoveta season came to an end last week, with 2.34 million tonnes of anchoveta having been landed.
The season opened on 4th May with an allocated quota of 2,79 million tonnes. The catch during this season in the north central zone corresponds to 84% of the quota.
According to Minister of Production Jorge Prado Palomino, the top landing port was Chimbote, which received landings of 588,00 tonnes. 283,000 tonnes were landed in Callao, 260,000 tonnes in Coishco, 231,000 tonnes in Malobrigo and 196,000 tonnes in Chancay.
Peruvian marine research institute Imarpe will continue to monitor and analyse the state of stocks of anchoveta (Engraulis ringens) and white anchoveta (Anchoa nasus), and will provide the Ministry of Production’s departments with advice on measures related to fishing limits.
