API V, one of the Iberconsa fleet, has arrived at the Nodosa Shipyard in Spain to begin a major repair and modernisation project, which includes installing a new main engine.
Built in 1974 in Galicia, API V has more than five decades of fishing behind it, currently operating in Argentine waters. This project aims to update the vessel to the current requirements of its operations, extending its operational life.
In addition to the refurbishment of the propulsion system, the project includes steelwork, steelwork and carpentry, which will be coordinated while the vessel is in the shipyard. The refit will enable various parts of the vessel to be overhauled and ensure that it is in the best possible condition for its forthcoming campaigns.
The work is scheduled to continue until the end of the year, with the aim of enabling API V to return to service in time for the 2027 season.
