Icelandic pelagic vessel Huginn has been through a major refit at the Alkor shipyard in Gdansk.
Huginn VE-55 was built as a purse seiner/pelagic trawler in Chile in 2001 for its owners in the Westman Islands and has been one the Icelandic fleet’s consistent top catchers since then.
During the refit at Alkor, Huginn was sandblasted and painted, and a pre-fabricated section was added to extend its length by an additional 7.20 metres, increasing its RSW tank capacity by an extra 600 cubic metres.
Huginn sailed from the Alkor yard after its extensive refit and facelift, taking with it a brand-new set of fishing gear from Kaliningrad supplier Fishering Service.
The new Atlantica-2300 trawl and a pair of 13.50 square metre Injector Admiral trawl doors were delivered to Huginn at the yard in Gdansk, where the gear was spooled onto the net drum ahead of the delivery trip to Iceland.
