Frøy has ordered two new 4500 cubic metre capacity live fish carriers, with options for four additional vessels.
The newbuilds are to be built at Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd. to Salt Ship Design’s next-generation live fish carrier design.
The design focuses on fish welfare, biosecurity, energy efficiency and operational flexibility. Building on a first vessel currently under construction at a European shipbuilder, the new vessels will incorporate further optimisations and technology developments. They will provide flexibility for various operational requirements and fish treatment technologies.
The two vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2029.
