France’s National Fisheries Committee (CNPMEM) has come to the end of the electoral process to appoint a new President, with Olivier le Nézet emerging as the winning candidate at the end of the second ballot.
The other candidates who reached the second voting round were Bernard Perez and Serge Larzabal. Olivier le Nézet takes over the presidency from Gérard Romiti, who has been in the post since 2012 and who was re-elected in 2017.
Elections also took place for five vice-presidential positions, as well as for officers representing the industry, the regional committees and POs.
Having elected a new president, CRPMEM is also in the process of looking for a new director after Jean-Luc Hall unexpectedly resigned earlier this year after a relatively short time in the job, his departure timed to coincide with that of the outgoing president.
His role is currently being filled by his predecessor, Hubert Carré, who was director of CNPMEM from 2004 to 2020, and who has returned to the organisation on a temporary basis until a new permanent director is appointed.
