Russian fishing giant Norebo has taken delivery of Orion, a 61-metre, 14-metre breadth factory trawler that started life at the Pella shipyard as Skorpion.
Originally ordered by the FEST group, Orion was launched some years ago, but has only now been completed. The Pella yard was also taken over by Norebo in 2022 and is now the Otradnoye shipyard, specialising in fishing vessels, including several series being built for Norebo.
Orion is built for demersal and pelagic trawling, expected to focus on groundfish species in northern waters. Accommodation is for a crew of 40. It has a factory deck with capacity to produce around 70 tonnes of frozen products per 24 hours.
The new trawler, built under the Russian government’s investment quotas initiative, has completed sea trials and has been delivered to Norebo’s Murmansk-based subsidiary company Strelets.
