Deck equipment supplier Evotec has secured yet a new contract to supply systems for new trawlers ordered by Faroese fishing company Faroe Origin.
The order for the 44-metre vessels has been placed at the Karstensen yard in Skagen, with a 2026 delivery date for the pair. These combined fresher/freezer vessels will have the capacity to operate as a pair team, or to operate individually with twin-rig gear.
Evotec’s part in the evolution of the new pair is the provision of complete fishing and mooring winch systems, incororating the Evotec MultiSoft Trawl, which provides dynamic performance. These projects have been developed in close collaboration with Karstensens Skibsværft A/S.
‘Our compact and robust solutions with low weight have a positive impact on these trawlers, which are relatively small but includes a lot of handling equipment,’ said Evotec sales manager Håkon Woldsund.
‘It’s not given that a fishing company prioritises investing in electric winches. However, in order to reduce the carbon footprint during the operational phase, this decision was made. After a long and thorough process with tough international competition, we managed to meet the customer’s on their expectations. We are currently delivering Finnur Friði and Høgaberg, and have quickly established a strong position in the Faroese market.’
‘Evotec’s focus on sustainable technology and efficient handling solutions for the fishing fleet has yielded excellent results,’ commented Evotec CEO Jogeir Romestrand.
‘The company has quickly become a market leader in the global market and has significant ambitions for the future.’
