Faroese factory trawler Emerald, built in Turkey for fishing company Havborg, is heading for home.
The 87.50 metre, 18 metre breadth Emerald is a Skipsteknisk ST-119 design, designed as a triple rigger and prepared for the addition of a fifth winch, providing the option of upgrading to quad-rigging.
The delivery trip from the Tersan Shipyard in Turkey was broken with a call in Hirtshals to collect the new trawler’s fishing gear from Cosmos Trawl.
Emerald will be fishing with three Cosmos 2005 Tiger shrimp trawls, and Cosmos Trawl supplied the full package of codends, rockhoppers and sorting grids.
Emerald is designed to be able to process shrimp and also has a filleting factory deck for groundfish, as well as production for fishmeal and fish oil. The fishroom has a 2250 cubic metre capacity and can hold approximately 1000 tonnes of frozen production.
Accommodation on board is for a crew of up to 40.
Emerald is due to dock in the Faroe Islands today, starting with a call to pick up its Rock trawl doors and clumps.
