Another new crabbing vessel is ready for handover to its owners in the Russian Far East. Kedon is the second vessel built at the Khabarovsk Shipbuilding Plant for Mag-C International.
The new vessel’s delivery follows that of sister vessel Omolon earlier this year. The pair were ordered in 2020 from the Khabarovsk yard, which had no previous experience of building vessels of this type.
Kedon and Omolon each measure 63.27 metres with a 10.60 metre breadth and are designed to deliver live catches in RSW. The two crabbers have 1618kW main engines.
Sea trials of the new Kedon have been completed to test all of the systems on board, before heading for Livadia for final outfitting. Yard staff are completing the paintwork and adding finishing touches to the accommodation before the handover to Mag-C International.
Kedon and Omolon have been built under the Russian government’s investment quotas initiative, designed to stimulate investment in fisheries and activity at domestic shipyards.
