According to the press release of Coast Guard fishing vessel Equinox called for help at 6:38 a.m. that they experience engine failure and were disabled 34 nautical miles south of Montague Island in the Gulf of Alaska with four crew member on board. The Coast Guard Cutter Mustang rushed to help the fishing vessel. It has towed the vessel by 1:38 p.m.and safely moored in Seward.
According to Coast Guard the conditions of weather were favourable and so they can manage arrived safely in Seward at 10:53 a.m. today. As per crew report the visibility was unlimited, little bit of scattered showers, three-foot seas with six-foot swells and 15-knot winds. When the vessel came to channel between Resurrection Bay and Blying Sound, the speed of winds rise to 40 knots and the temperature fell to -12 degrees. At this point the crew faced problem as there were heavy freezing spray and the towline froze but somehow they managed to tow the vessel safely.
After anchoring the Equinox four miles north of the Seward coal terminal, the Mustang crew launched post search-and-rescue operation on the vessel. However, they found no discrepancies with their safety equipment and documentation.
