Christian Strand Halstensen from Bekkjarvik has been elected as the new chairman of Norwegian fishing vessel operators’ federation Fiskebåt.
‘The fishing sector faces many major challenges. It will be important to work for predictability and stability in both legislation and the industry framework,’ he said.
He takes over the role from Jonny Berfjord, who is stepping down after eight years as Fiskebåt’s chairman.
Christian Strand Halstensen graduated as a lawyer from the University of Bergen in 1999, and has since worked in the family property management team. The Halstensen fishing business has vessels in both the pelagic and whitefish sectors.
