Euronor’s freezer trawler Cap Nord, one of the two sister vessels that have been laid up for some time since the company switched its efforts to operating fresher trawlers, has been sold.
Cap Nord and Klondyke were both taken to Zeebrugge at the beginning of the year, and Cap Nord is now heading for its new home in South Africa for new owner Sea Harvest. It’s had a paint job in brand-new colours, but the name has been retained.
The 55 metre, 13 metre beam Cap Nord and Klondyke were built at Sterkoder in Norway in 1988 for Nord Pecheries, which subsequently became part of Euronor.
Euronor operates a number of fresher trawlers and acquired the former Faroese pair team of Lerkur and Rokur, now operating as Fisher Bank and Otter Bank, while the company’s quotas for cod in Norwegian waters are caught by factory vessel Émeraude, which Euronor owns jointly with Saint Malo company Compagnie des Pêches.
