Síldarvinnslan’s freezer trawler Blængur docked last week and is already back at sea.
The catch was a green weight of 830 tonnes of mainly saithe and redfish, making 20,500 cartons in the refrigerated fishroom for 27 days at sea. The catch value for the trip is around ISK 300 million, and skipper Sigurður Hörður Kristjánsson is satisfied with the outcome.
‘We had a strong showing of saithe at the beginning of the trip, and that made all the difference,’ he said.
‘We were fishing mostly on Westfjords fishing grounds, particularly the Hali area. The final part of the trip was in the Skerja Deeps. This was a decent trip, as has been usual for Blængur recently,’ he said and added that the trawler isn’t staying long in port.
‘There are two crews. They’re sailing tonight.’
