The 2024 Scottish Skipper expo in Aberdeen is set to be the biggest yet, and the organisers report that the event is bringing in more vessels to be displayed then ever, while stand space is likely to be sold out before long – at the same time as some major changes are being made.
‘We have had a number of consultations with industry leaders in the last number of years and closely reviewed the changing landscape of the industry’ said Mara Media’s commercial fishing manager Sharon Boyle.
The outcome is that the decision has been taken to switch to a bi-annual schedule – so after the next expo, the Skipper will be back in Aberdeen in 2026.
‘The decision to run the show bi-annually means that companies have more time to work on developing new products between shows and we can also continue to enhance the overall show experience,’ she said, commenting that a further change is that the 2024 Scottish Skipper is a Thursday-Friday event, moving away from the traditional weekend slot, and in line with trade shows around the world.
‘This opens more travel options with more flights scheduled during the week, which will also cater for visitors planning day trips to the show from around the UK and Europe. With accommodation deals now available on The Skipper website, it’s time to get plans in place to attend the show – missing out means having to wait until 2026 to attend the next show,’ she said.
The Scottish Skipper Expo 2024 takes place Thursday 9th May and Friday 10th May at the P&J Live Arena Aberdeen.
‘There has been a huge demand from new companies and also existing companies looking to take a bigger space,’ Sharon Boyle said.
‘The industry recognises our exhibition as hugely important and they want to ensure that they have secured their position for the next show in 2026.’
