Osprey Fish Group’s beam trawler Our Anna PZ-675 has come out of a major refit at the Nodosa yard in Spain with substantially reduced fuel consumption.
During the beamer’s couple of months at the yard, the main engine was replaced with a new 12-cylinder ABC, coupled to a Reintjes reduction gear and a 4200mm diameter high-efficiency propeller.
The yard carried out before and after bollard pull tests so as to be certain of the figures, and Our Anna is expected to reduce its fuel consumption by between 25 and 28%, for the same towing power.
According to the yard’s José Ramón Regueira, this translates to a saving of around 125-130 litres per towing hour following the re-engining.
‘Our Anna has been through a compete refit and has been delivered to its Dutch owners,’ he said.
‘They have again entrusted us with an important project. In addition to the major changes to Our Anna’s propulsion system, other work has been carried out, including upgrading the accommodation to provide the crew with a more modern and comfortable space, the fishroom has been refitted, new electronics have been fitted in the wheelhouse and our teams at the yard have fitted new bilge, refrigeration and ventilation systems.’
