Commissioner Vella and Europêche hold in-depth dialogue

A delegation from Europêche met EU Commissioner Karmenu Vella to discuss the main topics at the top of the political and legislative fisheries agenda in the EU. Both Commissioner Vella and Europêche credited the great progress in achieving sustainable fisheries with 97% of landings in the North East Atlantic from EU managed stocks fished at Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) levels.

UK scallop sector establishes voluntary levy to fund research

A meeting held this week and attended by nine of the ten top king scallop producers and Producers Organisations with significant scalloping interests resulted in decisions that are expected to have far-reaching and beneficial consequences for the future sustainable management of king scallop stocks, which are a species of key importance to the UK fishing industry.

France and Spain reactivate the Bilateral Joint Fisheries Committee

On Spain’s initiative, a Franco-Spanish Joint Fisheries Committee met in Madrid on April 13, 2018, for the first time since the creation of the Southern AC, under the co-chairmanship of the Secretary General of Fisheries, Alberto López-Asenjo, and the Director of Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture, Frédéric Gueudar Delahaye.
