The owners of one of the three new factory trawlers under construction at Nodosa in Spain has announced that they have opted for an all-electric Naust Marine deck machinery setup.
The 85-metre Argos Berbés is being built for the Orion Fishing Company, a joint venture between Vigo-based Armadora Pereira and the Argos Group in the Falkland Islands. The new trawler was floated off in June and is being outfitted at the yard.
Argos Berbés has an innovative design, built with an inverted bow for better seakeeping qualities, and the new trawler is scheduled for completion at the end of this year, ready for the early fishing season around the Falklands in 2025.
The winch layout for Argos Berbés has been fine-tuned by Naust Marine, working in co-operation with Armadora Pereira and the Nodosa shipyard’s designers.
Argos Berbés is being outfitted with a pair of trawl winches with an ATW winch management system. This comes with electrical spooling gear and a regenerative system to route energy back to the vessel’s power matrix when shooting away the gear. Naust Marine is also supplying a comprehensive array of electrical cabinets and the cooling system.
The trawl deck is fitted with a single net drum and a row of four sweepline winches at the head of the trawl deck. In addition, the package includes two gilson winches and a pair of codend winches, as well as capstans, retrievers and twin anchor winches.
