Far East fishing company Dobroflot has made a successful shipment of 3000 tonnes of fish to the port of Arkhangelsk using the northern sea route.
With record catches in the Far East this year, there are predictions by industry analysts that prices for fish and caviar could fall by as much as 25%. Products are already appearing on supermarket shelves in European Russia as shipments are making their way west.
Dobroflot makes regular deliveries of fish products all over Russia, but the northern sea route has been out of use for a long time. Now the company has revived the use of this relatively quick delivery route with its refrigerated cargo vessel Progress carrying a first shipment of 3000 tonnes of this year’s Far East catches to the northern port of Arkhangelsk.
